Karnatakas first Floating Bridge At Malpe Collapsed Three Days After Inauguration
A floating bridge was installed at Malpe beach (Malape Bhechacha) in Udupi. It was also the first floating bridge in the state of Karnataka. The floating bridge has been shut down due to a tidal flare due to the sound of the waves.
The event was inaugurated by Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhatt and District Collector M Kurma Rao last Friday (May 6) in Malpe beach, Udupi. On Sunday night, the bridge was broken when the sea was on the rise.
There was a technical flaw in the bridge to the sound of the waves, and the blocks fitted to the bridge were shattered. Its videos have also gone viral on the social networking site. In view of maintenance, the floating bridge has been discontinued.
The floating bridge, 3.5 meters wide and 100 meters long, was built by three local businessmen at a cost of around Rs 80 lakh.
The pieces of the floating bridge were seen scattered in the sea water floating in the viral video. It is to be seen how the concerned will restore the bridge, and promise to tourists that it is safe in future.
